These are high quality acoustic guitars featuring tops made from select pieces of spruce on bodies and backs of flamed maple. These guitars are designed to provide great playability for on-stage performance with large and deep bodies that deliver a dynamic sound, bracing designs that resist feedback, and single cutaways that provide access to the upper neck. The CPX900 & CPX700 utilizes Yamaha’s A.R.T. (Acoustic Resonance Transducer) pickup system, which uses two additional sub pickups for controlling overtones and resonance.
Although it was designed as electric acoustic guitar, CPX never forgets body resonance of an acoustic guitar. This all solid CPX resonates even deeper with solid Rosewood and when combined with SRT, its real acoustic sound and playability is irresistible for both studios and stages. The same as APX1200, Mahogany wood binding, black button on tuning machine are applied to its body. And newly designed MOP/ Paddock position marks, are featured for this series. CPX1200 is available in Translucent Black and Vintage Sunburst.

Bringing Back Lost Ambience; Yamaha’s new proprietary Studio Response Technology (SRT) brings back the natural, ambient sound of an acoustic guitar, and it does it with the signal from the output jack. Using a sound modeling technique that utilizes data obtained through extensive analysis of four acoustic elements that are missing from conventional pickup systems— string and body resonance, ambience, vintage microphone characteristics, and professional micing techniques, SRT delivers a natural, studio-quality acoustic guitar tone. The same tone that, until now, was only attainable by professional recording engineers in the world’s finest studios is now easily usable by any player, on-stage or in the studio.Using a sound modeling technique that utilizes data obtained through extensive analysis of four acoustic elements that are missing from conventional pickup systems— string and body resonance, ambience, vintage microphone characteristics, and professional micing techniques, SRT delivers a natural, studio-quality acoustic guitar tone. SRT Functions The new SRT system lets you choose from three different high-end mic types as well as two mic positions that let you use techniques similar to those used in a recording studio. The system provides a total of six setting patterns. Click the buttons below the photos to hear the differences between various sound settings. The system also allows mixing of pickup and mic sound elements using the BLEND knob, and control of body resonance with the RESONANCE knob to create a wide range of rich, natural sounds.
